    By accessing or using FileScrub.com and its tools ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.     Description of Service

    FileScrub provides browser-based tools for reading and removing metadata from digital files, including but not limited to photographs, PDF documents, and Microsoft Office documents. All file processing occurs locally within your web browser. FileScrub does not upload, store, or transmit your files to any server.

    License to Use

    FileScrub grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal and commercial use, subject to these Terms. This license does not include the right to:

    • Copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service
    • Reverse engineer or decompile any part of the Service
    • Use automated bots or scrapers against the Service
    • Frame or embed the Service in another website without permission

    No Warranty — "As-Is" Service

    THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. FILESCRUB EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Completeness of Metadata Removal: FileScrub does not warrant that all metadata will be removed from every file. The effectiveness of metadata removal depends on the file format, the metadata standard used, and the specific fields present. Some metadata may remain in complex file formats.
    • Fitness for a Particular Purpose: The Service may not meet your specific security, legal, or privacy requirements.
    • Error-Free Operation: The Service may contain bugs or errors that affect performance.
    • Uninterrupted Availability: We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access to the Service.

    User Responsibility

    You are solely responsible for:

    • Verifying that metadata has been successfully removed from your files before sharing them
    • Ensuring your use of the Service complies with applicable laws
    • Maintaining copies of your original files before using the Service
    • Not using the Service to process files you do not own or have no right to access
    • Understanding the limitations of the metadata removal methods used

    Important: For situations where complete and verified metadata removal is legally required or critically important (e.g., legal proceedings, law enforcement matters, national security), you should use professional forensic tools and consult with qualified professionals. FileScrub is not a substitute for professional forensic services.

    Limitation of Liability

    TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, FILESCRUB AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Loss of privacy due to metadata that was not fully removed
    • Any harm arising from reliance on the Service
    • Loss of data or files
    • Any unauthorized access to your files or device

    FILESCRUB'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ZERO DOLLARS ($0), REFLECTING THE FACT THAT THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.

    Indemnification

    You agree to indemnify and hold FileScrub harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

    Intellectual Property

    The FileScrub name, logo, website design, and original content are the property of FileScrub.com and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not use our trademarks without our prior written permission.

    Third-Party Services

    The Service integrates third-party technologies including Google AdSense for advertising. Your interaction with these third-party services is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. FileScrub is not responsible for the practices of any third-party services.
