    Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this tool, privacy, and what it does to your files.

What file formats does the Universal Scrubber support?

Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, HEIC (converted). Documents: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX. More formats added regularly.

How is this different from the individual tools?

The Universal Scrubber runs the most aggressive metadata strip available for whatever file you drop. The individual tools (GPS Remover, PDF Cleaner) let you preview and selectively strip fields.

Can I batch-process multiple files at once?

Yes — drop as many files as you want. Each one is processed independently in your browser and downloaded as a ZIP if you upload more than one.

Does it strip the copyright field?

By default yes, since copyright is metadata. If you need to preserve copyright tags, use the Metadata Viewer to selectively remove only sensitive fields.

    What’s the file size limit?

50 MB per file, running entirely in your browser. Larger files are technically possible but performance depends on your device.

    Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No, ever. Every byte of processing happens in your browser via JavaScript and WebAssembly. FileScrub has no upload endpoint at all — open the browser network tab and check.
